We already told you that Alex Ovechkin took home the Rocket Richard Trophy for the fifth time and Braden Holtby finished fourth in voting for the Vezina Trophy. But there are a few other juicy tidbits from the NHL Awards ceremony that we missed.
Hart Trophy
Friendly reminder that Alex Ovechkin scored on Carey Price TWICE during their last meeting this season.

The Hart Trophy is awarded annually to the “player judged most valuable to his team.” Alex Ovechkin was jobbed, but at least he got the perfect amount of first place votes and points.

One fun factoid: Holtby got one fifth place vote!
Jack Adams Trophy

The Jack Adams Award is awarded annually to the NHL’s best coach. Barry Trotz finished fifth, receiving two first place votes. In my opinion, he should have been a finalist.
Norris Trophy

The James Norris Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the NHL’s top defenseman. Caps first pairing defender John Carlson finished tenth, recieving one second and one third place vote.

The Frank J. Selke Trophy is awarded annually to the forward who demonstrates the most skill in the defensive component of the game. Caps first line center Nicklas Backstrom finished 11th, receiving one first place vote, two second places votes, two third place votes, six fourth place votes and six fifth place votes. It confuses me how Nicky doesn’t win this award every year.
GM Of The Year
Brian MacLellan got one 1st-place vote and two 2nd-place votes for GM of the Year. Finished 11th.

Lightning GM Steve Yzerman won the award.
NHL All Star Teams
Alex Ovechkin finishes as a 1st-team All-Star at LW. Backstrom was 6th in voting at C, Carlson 10th on D, Holtby 4th at G.

One final honor for Ovechkin. The best part?

Haha, Sid.
